Characteristics

The characteristics of the amorphous ribbon are as follows:

1. Amorphous alloy does not have a regular crystal structure like other magnetic materials, and the arrangement of all atoms in amorphous metal is irregular.

2. The resistance value of the amorphous metal is about three times that of crystal.

3. It is prepared by rapidly cooling the melt (about 1,000,000 Celsius degrees per second). This method prevents atoms from arranging into a stable crystal form, resulting in a metastable amorphous structure.

4. It has soft magnetism, low coercivity, low core loss and high permeability.

5. It is known that the loss of amorphous alloys in magnetic materials is almost the lowest.

Application

Typical applications include:

  A choke coil is an inductor designed to have a very big reactance at a determined frequency or frequency range.
